HESKETH Park's 140th birthday was celebrated on Saturday - and in tremendous style.
Crowds saw thousands of people flock to the Victorian landmark, resplendent once again thanks to £2.7million Heritage Lottery funding, much campaigning and a great deal of hard work.
Though the event did not go completely without hiccups - some complained they struggled to hear the sound on Saturday night, while others felt the park could have been better lit - the birthday celebrations as a whole were a triumph.
Having the wonderful Marshside Brass Band lead the procession was a lovely touch, while the fireworks were spectacular.
Many readers have contacted the Visiter to say they popped into the park to see what was going on, only to end up staying the whole day, and night.
What a wonderful showcase for a truly great park.
